About the Artist…
From an early age, Maria was practically born into the world of theatrical arts. She followed the tradition of her older sisters and was part of a competitive dance team and performed onstage for most of her life. She had always enjoyed being backstage and preparing for a performance rather than being in the spotlight herself.
This captivation with the "behind the scenes chaos" is what enticed Maria to pursue a career in the makeup industry. She attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles where she gained knowledge in Beauty Industry Merchandising & Marketing. She quickly realized the corporate side was not for her and wanted something more hands-on. Maria moved back to New Jersey to attend Make-up Designory (MUD) and complete the Master's program. While studying there in New York City, Maria designed makeup for several beauty, fashion, and special effects photoshoots. She also designed a range of characters and avant garde looks. Maria has worked with several local New York and New Jersey based photographers capturing a variety of projects from headshots to experimental themed looks.
